Anne Crawford’s passion for photography took form in the publication and exhibition of images taken on travels to exotic destinations (Uzbekistan and Yemen especially) in the 1990s.
She became an instant stills photographer working as a researcher on a documentary about the historic South African elections in 1994 that screened on SBS. “Man Sandwich’’, a rare shot, was a happy outcome. (See Limited Editions)
A selection of overseas photos was aired in a two-woman exhibition at Kozminsky Galleries, Melbourne, in 1998, and also at Antipodes Gallery, Sorrento, in 2000.
Working as a feature writer with The Age newspaper (words were her first love) she undertook a three-month voluntary stint at an eye clinic in Nepal with The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) in 2002, as part of a collaboration with The Age and Sydney Morning Herald. (See Hollows.) Some of the images appeared in an exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney that year.
She is available for commissions for both words and photos.
